The Vendors Where It Just Ends

Access is tied to active, verified student status; once that lapses, the benefit lapses with it. That's not a hidden gotcha exactly, but it's also not something these vendors advertise loudly, so it's easy to be caught off guard.
What This Means Practically
- If you're on a free educational license for something you'll keep needing professionally (JetBrains IDEs, Autodesk software), start budgeting for the transition before your verification actually lapses, not after. For JetBrains specifically, the 40% graduate rate needs to be claimed as its own path — it's not automatic.
- If you're relying on a free cloud credit (Azure for Students, GitHub Pack benefits), spend it down or plan your project timeline around your remaining verified-student window, since there's no graduate continuation for these.
- Check each vendor's own current terms before assuming your specific case matches this list. These graduate programs, where they exist, can change — verify the live terms rather than assuming last year's article about it is still accurate.
- Don't assume "free while a student" implies any kind of loyalty discount afterward. For the large majority of tools on this site, it doesn't — full price is the default the moment verification ends.
