What We Verified
GitHub's own documentation states you must be at least 13 years old and enrolled in a degree- or diploma-granting course of study (high school, college, university, or approved homeschool) to qualify for the Pack. Teachers, researchers, and other staff are not eligible for the Pack itself — GitHub Education offers them separate educator benefits instead. Verification requires a school-issued email address and/or dated proof of enrollment, such as a student ID, enrollment letter, or transcript.
Savings Checklist
- Apply with a GitHub account and a school email if you have one; if not, be ready to upload dated proof of enrollment.
- Don't assume every partner offer listed in old blog posts is still active — GitHub's own Pack page has, at times, paused new sign-ups for specific partner offers (Copilot has been an example). Check your GitHub Education dashboard for current status.
- Use the Pack as your entry point, then verify each individual partner offer (JetBrains, cloud credits, etc.) on that partner's own official page too.
- Reapply/renew verification if you change schools or your original verification expires.
