Peacock Student Discount: Price, Codes, and Renewal Timing

Peacock's current student offer is Premium with ads for $6.99 per month for 12 months. Verify through SheerID, then redeem your individual code with Peacock. The code expires 30 days after successful verification; receiving it does not activate the subscription. Existing paid subscribers may need to cancel their current plan before redemption. The student landing page reviewed here gives dollar prices rather than a savings percentage. An unpublished percentage does not mean there is no discount. Our calculation is ($12.99 − $6.99) ÷ $12.99 × 100 = approximately 46.2%, using the matching Premium baseline. This is our arithmetic, not an official percentage claim.

Older $1.99, $2.99 and $5.99 listings are not proof of today's new-signup price. Check the live student page and your redemption screen. An existing subscriber's bill can reflect a different offer period.

The promotion covers Premium with ads. It does not promise discounted Premium Plus. Do not buy an upgrade on the assumption that the same student rate follows you to another tier.

Who qualifies: student status and age are separate routes

For the student route, Peacock requires age 18 or older, U.S. residence, current undergraduate or advanced-degree enrollment at a qualifying U.S. Title IV-accredited college or university, successful verification, and a valid payment method. U.S. territories are included in the published eligibility language. Last verified: October 12, 2026. Student eligibility.

The alternative Young Adult offer uses age eligibility instead of enrollment. Its terms specify ages 18–24 at verification. A student older than that range should check the student route rather than interpret the age ceiling as a restriction on every Peacock discount. Last verified: October 12, 2026. Young Adult terms.

The two deadlines that can derail a switch

Peacock's terms create two different windows: a code-redemption period after verification and an access period after enrollment. Treat them as separate dates. The former determines whether the voucher is still usable; the latter determines when discounted billing ends. Neither is the date your old subscription stops providing access.

Here is a planning example, not a guarantee about any account. Suppose your current plan has 40 days of paid access remaining and cannot accept the promotion while active. Verifying now produces a code whose stated validity is 30 days. Waiting out that old plan leaves a ten-day mismatch: 40 − 30 = 10. Cancelling today would not necessarily remove it, because cancelling renewal and ending already-paid access are different events.

Do not assume the code survives until the old plan ends. Establish whether your account requires a lapse before requesting verification, and use the expiry actually shown in the verification message. The terms permit early termination, so even the stated window is not a promise that an offer will remain open indefinitely.

If the old plan has only 20 days left, the same simplified calculation leaves ten days inside the nominal redemption window: 30 − 20 = 10. That is scheduling room, not a reason to wait until the final day. A payment problem or an account-specific restriction could still prevent redemption. Do not turn an illustrative subtraction into an approval prediction.

Keep the old subscription's final access date, the voucher expiry, and the new offer's end date beside one another. A cancellation confirmation answers only the first billing question; a verification email answers only the eligibility question. The new subscription screen must still show the correct offer.

You can make that timing check before generating a voucher. Let R be the days of old paid access remaining. In the simplified case where redemption must wait for that access to end, nominal room after verification today is 30 − R days. A negative result means the voucher window ends first; zero means there is no margin for a failed checkout. With R = 40, delaying verification by ten days would merely align the two endpoints. It would not create a safe buffer. Confirm the required account transition with Peacock, then schedule verification nearer the time redemption becomes possible. This is a planning model, not permission to extend a code or a promise that tomorrow's offer will remain available.

Keep the voucher countdown out of the savings calculation. In the 20-day example, the ten days of nominal redemption room are not ten free streaming days, and they do not reduce the next $6.99 bill. They only describe when you could complete a purchase if the account permits it. Likewise, an old payment already made is not money recovered by switching. Compare future charges from the same starting point. Counting the remaining old access as a refund would inflate the saving, while treating code validity as subscription duration would understate what the new plan covers.

What the renewal gap costs

These scenarios assume consecutive paid monthly cycles, unchanged prices, no taxes, no refunds and no other promotions. They are calculations from the dated inputs above, not annual subscriptions or predictions of future bills.

Paid cyclesAt $6.99 student pricingAt $12.99 retail pricingDifferenceInputs verified
1$6.99$12.99$6.00October 12, 2026
6$41.94$77.94$36.00October 12, 2026
12$83.88$155.88$72.00October 12, 2026

For N cycles, student cost = $6.99 × N, retail cost = $12.99 × N, and the difference = $6 × N. Twelve discounted payments total $83.88; that does not mean the signup requires one $83.88 annual payment.

An overlooked renewal changes the next period's arithmetic. At today's listed rates, one retail payment followed by eleven successfully renewed student payments totals $89.88: $12.99 + ($6.99 × 11). That is $6 above twelve student payments. Two retail payments and ten student payments total $95.88, or $12 more. Each full-price cycle adds $6 in this scenario.

This model assumes you can renew afterward at $6.99. Peacock only promises eligible renewal at the then-current offer rate, so that input may change. If it does, replace it in the formula. Nor does later verification establish a right to recover the earlier difference: the student terms provide no credits or refunds for fees already paid.

For a different renewal rate, use a mixed-cycle budget rather than carrying forward the old annual total. Let k be full-price cycles and r the student rate actually offered for the remaining cycles. A twelve-cycle budget is ($12.99 × k) + [r × (12 − k)], before taxes. Compare it with twelve payments at that same r: the gap is k × ($12.99 − r). Setting r = $6.99 and k = 2 reproduces $95.88 and the $12 gap above. That gap is a price difference caused by full-price billing, not an instruction to buy extra months to qualify.

Renewal therefore involves two checks, not one: continued eligibility and the offer actually applied to billing. An enrollment approval email alone does not establish that the next payment will be discounted. Before the access period ends, inspect the account's next charge and complete the available renewal instructions. If the screen still shows retail pricing, resolve that discrepancy rather than assigning it the student price in your budget.

Existing account: apply the code where the subscription is managed

Peacock directs existing account holders to redeem their individual code in Account → Plans & Payments. Existing paid subscribers may need additional steps, including cancellation. This is not a promise that every active account supports an immediate in-place switch. Last verified: October 12, 2026. Existing-account instructions.

For third-party subscriptions, cancellation must be handled by the provider that bills you. Peacock's help page also explains that cancelled direct subscriptions retain Premium access through the billing cycle; third-party cancellation terms can differ. Last verified: October 12, 2026. A failed code: send the right problem to the right support team

SheerID handles verification; Peacock handles the purchase. SheerID's FAQ directs verified users with checkout problems to the brand's customer support. Last verified: October 12, 2026. SheerID student FAQ.

How This Guide Was Researched

This guide is based on the underlying tool pages linked above. Those pages check official vendor terms first, then compare verification method, student eligibility, renewal rules, and whether access is self-serve or institution-dependent.
